Bigger Brother & the Fire
Here is a funny story for you about child number two, formally known as Our Youngest (he is now Bigger Brother, and Our Eldest is Biggest Brother, BTW). We were at a gathering at a friends house who had a little patio fire pit. The kids were excited to have a fire to throw bunches of paper into. Anyway, Me and another Friend were sitting round the fire with Bigger Brother. No one else around. Our Friend, who is great with kids, asks Bigger Brother what they should name the stuff going into the fire. They had been telling stories about the burning... Bigger Brother pipes up, John Edwards, (Our Friend had mentioned him about five minutes back). Our friend says nah, how about something else, but Bigger Brother sticks to his guns. Pretty soon he is tossing in chunks of card board into the fire, seriously, and fiercely saying, "Your going down John Edwards, your going down", while pointing a finger at the fire. Oh it was funny. Maybe it's a had to be there to get it funny, but I was in tears... Labels: AW |

AW's 5th Birthday
My parents treated us to lunch and a wonderful trip to the aquarium. Afterward, we took a walk along the river and did some wading. We had a great day! Thank you mom and dad! |

Preschool Graduation
AW recently graduated from preschool! Here is the proof: He is absolutely thrilled to be going into kindergarten where he'll be at the same school as his big brother. |

Mess? What mess?
You know your house is a mess when your 6 year old's response to the possibility of cub scouts being at our house is "oh, that's bad"! |

Last Sunday
HL approaches me with: "hey Mom, did you already eat breakfast?" "I did. I had a bowl of cereal." "How about we make a new rule? Every Saturday and Sunday, I will feed you breakfast in bed from now on. Is that okay?" Well, heck YES!!! He started feeding me breakfast in bed every once in a while about a year ago. While it is only cereal, he puts a lot of thought into it by choosing my favorite cereal at the time and usually climbing up on the stool to retrieve the special bowl with hearts on it. One morning, he fed the whole family in bed, taking special care to choose just the right bowl for each of us; I got hearts, AW got a red one, and Dad got the Broncos bowl. He's a real sweetie, my HL. |

Writing
About a month ago, AW asked for help in adding "Bionicles" to his big brother's wish list. I was busy at the time and had a lot on my mind; the request was quickly forgotten. Then, 30 minutes later I happened to walk by the refrigerator (on which are the boys' wish lists) and noticed a new line at the end of HL's list: "BIONICLZ" Apparently, AW was not feeling particularly patient that day and sounded out the word on his own. I'd say he did a darn good job!! |
Little Cousins
My niece, CL, had a baby girl on Sunday 3/15. Here are the pictures of ER and CE meeting for the first time.... |
Fussy
HL is rather enamored with his new baby brother. Every day, as soon as he gets home from school, he is running to wash his hands so he can hold ER. Last week he was sick and I think the worst part of it for him was that he couldn't hold the baby. This evening he asked to hold him, but daddy discouraged it because ER was fussy. HL's response: "I don't care if he's fussy. I still want to hold him." That's not something you hear from many adults, let alone a 6 year old! |

A Night In Bethlehem
Way back in the beginning of December, a local church presented "A Night In Bethlehem". We went expecting a simple outdoor portrayal of the stable, but were instead surprised by an indoor Bethlehem market; complete with census-taking, ROman soldiers, vendors, beggars, and (of course) the stable with Jesus! |
Just a tad busy right now....
My currently uneventful life (HA!) has dictated that I not have much time for blogging. Therefore, I will just be posting a bunch of slideshows for now. Thanks for understanding! |
