More AW-isms

You read about the oh-so-sweet AW-isms that make us smile. This morning was a reminder that they are not all sweet.... Hubby and I were sleeping in while the boys played chess quietly. Wizards chess, actually, which is really nothing like real chess. But I digress. Anyway, we hear AW holler that he needs help wiping (after pooping in the potty). I watch as daddy jumps up and leaves the room to help him. The next thing I know, AW is screaming at the top of his lungs "Not you, daddy!!! Mommy!!! Has to be mommy!!" Hubby explained that mommy was still in bed and AW had two choices: help from daddy now or wait in the bathroom until mommy gets up. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. But not so to AW apparently; AW's answer was to launch into a diatribe of rather mean AW-isms including: "I hate you!" "I'm gonna find a new family!" "You're not my daddy!" "I'll find a new place to live!" "I hate everybody!" "You're NOT the best!" After a short while, hubby came in and told me that AW had sent him into "Outer space" so he couldn't help him. Outer space?!? Ha! Eventually, his brother helped him calm down so that he could ask me nicely for help: (sniffle, sniffle) Pretty soon I see a nose and a knee sticking beyond the door jamb... (sniffle) (mumbles, barely audible) "mommy I love you" (another sniffle) (mumbles, again, very quietly and quickly) "mommy will you please help me?!" That was just what I was waiting for- I couldn't help him when he was throwing a fit, that would only reinforce that behavior- so then I jumped to help. Throughout finishing up in the bathroom, he just kept telling me he loves me SOO much. Of course, there was still one thing to be done; AW had to apologize for the mean things he said to his daddy... He shuffled slowly but surely toward daddy and said he was sorry. Not even a second after that, he was back to telling daddy that he was the "BEST daddy ever!"

Why?

Will someone please tell me why it is that while in the shower, with the hot water pounding my body, I feel cold. But the second I step out of the shower, I am so hot that it's almost unbearable?!? What is with that?

AW-isms

It is a daily occurrence that AW makes us smile with his "AW-isms". Here are a couple of his current ones: "That's a nice shirt you got on there." "It's bea-u-tiful." "That's my bestest (meaning favorite)!" "This is some good food you made." "You're a good cooker." And my personal favorite... "Mommy, you are lov-e-ly." Which is usually followed by... "Do you like the word lov-e-ly? I do. I love it. And I love you. And you're bea-u-tiful. That's why I say you're lov-e-ly. (Pause) Does that make you happy?"

Household Chores

HL's new favorite household chore- he actually asked Nanny if he could do this for her! The other chores he and his brother do around the house are: put away clean dishes, help do laundry, set and clear the table, and pick up the house (since they are the culprits making that mess!). It is so nice that they are getting old enough to help out so much!

Kids Fest 2008
