Random Photo for Jan 31, 2006- Honeymoon
I've been interested in blogging with Hubby, but felt just a little overwhelmed by choosing a subject out of the plethora swimming around in my head. Then last night Hubby had a simply brilliant idea- he suggested that I pick a random photo each day and blog about it. So here goes... My first random photo happens to reflect one of my favorite times with Hubby. This shot was taken on a beach in Hawaii, Hubby had never seen the ocean before and was fascinated by it. I took this picture of him to remember how he stood there at the water's edge and giggled each time a wave came up. It was so cute! (Hubby's gonna make me pay for that remark!) I have posted several other honeymoon photos for anyone who is curious. Thinking of other photos brought up so many memories of our honeymoon. Like how I locked the keys in our rental car and we had to wait at the entrance of Pearl Harbor for a taxi to bring us another set. Or snorkeling. Hubby loved it so much, he pulled off at practically every place he could so we could snorkel. There was one spot in particular that I will never forget- it must have been a favorite of the locals because the fish were VERY friendly, to the point that it actually scared me! Here we are, just minding our own business, enjoying the underwater sites when I'm suddenly accosted by hundreds of fish. I would swim away and they would follow me. After some time they even started bumping me with their mouths. I was done. No more snorkeling that day. Unh-uh, no way. Oh! Here's a good one; I was smart enough to wear a t-shirt when snorkeling to prevent getting sunburned- or so I thought. Who would've thought I needed to cover my ass as well? Yeah, well, if you ever go snorkeling I recommend you slather your rear with sunblock. My ass was lobster red. Hubby went out onto Waikiki beach at 11 at night to try find me some thong undies since nothing else would do- and he succeeded! That's my guy. The memory that I most remember though is just laying there in Hubby's arms, listening to the rhythmic crash of the waves and relishing the feeling that life was good. We were finally married and all was well. |
Great news...
How exciting!
As a matter of fact I am in a public speaking course this semester...
UPDATE: January 31... So I was suposed to give a speech today, but I was able to put it off until next Thursday. Let me tell you though I sure was calm while I waited my turn. Can wait 'til Thursday... |
Another AR Post
Here is another pic from my AR trip. You may be asking yourself, why this picture? Well... That's a hood of a car near the long winding (you wouldn't want to take your sedan down) road to my cousins house (the white spot in the middle of the trees). What's difficult to read on the hood is this warning: PRIVATE DRIVE Trespassers will be prosecuted
I found it very interesting that the sign read trespassers would be prosecuted, not trespassers keep out or no trespassing, something like that. Another thing I found curious, or perhaps I shouldn't have, was that the sound of gunfire, in all kinds of caliber, from many different directions was never far off. Please don't get me wrong, I loved Arkansas, it was especially great to be in the country. It was very beautiful, even in the winter and everyone I met was as nice as could be. I sure am glad I didn't meet the people with the guns though... |
AW's First Haircut
Well, we finely got AW's haircut. After months of putting it off, it's done. As I said weeks ago, it was past time for a haircut, but as is often the case, AW got his first haircut just a few days ago. It was hard to tell, but his hair was a good six inches long, it just curled around on his head.
He was a trooper and didn't mind for the most part, he started to protest half way through but no major blow ups. Mom did a great job not crying too! Here's the before picture. Here's a link to the photo set on Flickr, or for those of you gifted with broadband, the slideshow. I hope to post some video too, I'll update it here. |
Last of the Christmas Photos
Ya, I know it's January 20th...
As you may know, my birthday falls on Christmas. Most people assume that it sucks. I have really enjoyed it, despite getting birthday pumpkin pie... (I love it by the way!) Everyone goes out of their way to tell me happy birthday, and at all of the Family Christmas functions I go to, I generaly get a cake and more presents. Top that!
In fact I would like to ask those of you out there that hate Christmas, for what ever reason, to help me celebrate my birthday next year. Send Happy Birthday J cards to all your friends and family, place Happy Birthday J gifts under your Happy Birthday J tree and don't forget to put up Happy Birthday J lights on your house, (I don't care for the all blue strands). Oh, and be sure to sing J's Birthday carols to your neighbors in the middle of the night. Traditional J's Birthday dinner includes: 7 layer bean dip, green bean casserole, cheesy potato casserole, your favorite stuffing, turkey, ham and rolls with lots of real butter. You can skip the funky Jello salad stuff. You'll also need generous helpings of your favorite birthday cake, you'll need 35 candles next year. I do not drink anymore, but feel free to raise a glass or two of your own.
Here are the last photos from Christmas. These are from our gathering with my side of the family. Sorry it took so long. Like I said earlier, we have a bunch of pictures (don't you love digital photography) and I have only posted a fraction of the photos to Flickr. Enjoy!

And other stuff
As you may know I am a returning college student. (I have one previous semester 15 years ago before I dropped out because partying was way too important.) One of my classes last fall, Western Civ I was a great way for me to restart my college career. I have always been fond of history and had a great time in that class. (So much fun in fact that I signed up for Western Civ II with the same instructor.)
Well... in Western Civ I we spent some time reading about and discussing the Christian crusades 1-7. Consequently I have recently watched a lot of tv about the crusades. ('cause I love history documentaries and epic battle movies and had recently learned about them.)... And in all the reading, discussing and watching I have done about The Christian crusades I find it very telling that the Muslims were always referred to as the infidels...
For those of you who believe this war is about the Palestinians or oppression or poverty or racism or American imperialism or some grand cabal to get oil, it's not.
It's about a group of people hijacking a religion and inspiring religious zealotry for the purpose of regaining control of lost territory, re-imposing strict religious control over those territories, spreading their sect through conversion by sword, misogyny, gaining wealth and amassing power. Their spokesmen have said as much numerous times, and in every one of their statements you and I are referred to as infidel...

Trip to AR
It's been a while since I've blogged any, but I just got back from a trip helping my cousin move a 10 x 20 storage shed to Arkansas. I spent a great six days on the road, but I sure am glad to be back.

Alan on his 100 acres in Arkansas. The white spot barley visible through the trees is his huge house. Here are some other photos from the trip.
And lest you think I forgot about Christmas, here are some pictures from Santa's visit Christmas day. Still working on the others.
