On that day:

Winning isn't everything- or is it?

HL is known to have "game luck" around my family. We can't explain it- he has an uncanny ability to win silly games. Such as Sorry, and Trouble. After getting Trouble from my parents for Valentine's Day, he proceeded to beat them repeatedly at said game.

The next morning, AW and I (as a team) played against him. The game went swimmingly for us; we had three pegs in the finish area with our fourth, and final, peg exactly one hop away from winning. HL, on the other hand, had only one peg safe and the other three were all stuck at home still. He wasn't going to win this game. Unh-uh. No sirree. . .

. . . But then, AW hit a poor rolling streak. He couldn't roll a one to save his life. And oh, how he tried! After some time, one of HL's pegs caught up to me, and SENT ME HOME! Alas, HL stole victory from within my grasp and took it for his own.

Ugh.

Later that evening, I was commenting on how incredible it was that he beat me at Trouble. I congratulated him. I was a perfect sport.

And here's his response: "Mom, maybe someday you can play without me, and then you can win!"
